Custodial Care Facility

Posted on February 6, 2010.
Custodial Care FacilityWhat exactly does Medicare, 2009 except "custodial care", it is in regards AT Home Care?

I understand that Medicare pays almost never for "custodial care". But in 2009 "Medicare and You" book on page 38 under the heading "What is not covered by Part A and Part B?" He said "No maintenance is not covered, except when you also get skilled nursing care in a skilled nursing facility, home, or in the context of palliative care.

For example, if my uncle is having her blood pressure checked and sugar in her kitchen, with a visit Registerd nurse, a nurse can while the bath him, dress him, feed him and get him settled in his chair for the rest of the day? And Part A and B cover all or most?

It should be coded as child care and care for the claim to be paid by Medicare. If the codes RN request medical services and Medicare will probably deny it.

I will find the solution to exactly this tomorrow (have family who works in the company) if you have not called CS, or had another answer that is satisfactory.

I'm pretty sure this will be how well it is encoded.
