Canine Cabana is a dream come true for friends like Kendall Duncan and Angie Frazier. They launched the kennel and daycare canine 9708 Carr Road, 1 May

11 years ago the couple met while working at Busch Gardens as zookeepers.

They said they started thinking about starting a kennel six years ago, but refined the concept after attending business tutorials offered by Hillsborough County, University of South Florida and Small Business Administration.

"The dogs move every day," said Frazier.

It has 20 kennel runs, a 2,000 sqm. ft. interior conditioned space to play, a patio of 25 x 100 'covered with a concrete floor and a lot of material open space for dogs to romp.

The breeding and nursery are open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm week, with weekend hours by appointment. Rates depend on the type and frequency of services provided.

Some dogs are left at daycare Monday through Friday, others a few days a week or a half day casual. Homeowners must complete an evaluation of four pages, and the dogs must pass an entrance exam before enrolling.

"Not all dogs are suitable for day care," said Duncan. "We want to ensure that all dogs are friendly, enjoy the day - and above all safe."
