Humana Gold Plus Medicare? Have any of you have Medicare Humana Gold Plus for your insurance? If so, are you happy with their services? Do you have an HMO or PPO? I'll be 65 in August
Are there any other insurance company that is better than Humana?
I'm so confused with which I would choose the Medicare plan (plans vs. Advanatge plans Gap). Thank you very much for helping me be less confused!
You're right about the choice of the new Medicare Part D benefit is confusing! If it brings you comfort, you're not alone in your confusion ...
The answer to your question depends on several factors, including what types of prescription drugs you take, what kind of plan you are willing to accept, and if the plan you want will pay for the prescription drugs you need. How Medicare Part D is structured is certainly not a "one size fits all seniors" deal. Everyone - even husbands and wives have to go through the process to determine which plan will meet their needs and be the best case, ""
I do not know about the benefits Humana Gold Plus plan where you live - but I can tell you that if you live in the United States or its territories, there are professional goal not far from where you can help you sort through your options based on what you need and want so you can make the best decision possible - the people in your area Agency on Aging.
Area Agencies on Aging is one of the best kept secrets around for people who need information on consumer issues and Medicare Part D. They work with many elderly people everyday, so they are excellent resources that will probably know the scoop on the different plans. (And they do not try to sell you something!) So, you might consider asking your local network of the Agency on Aging. If you live in the United States or any territory, there is a portion of your region. You can call toll free 1-800-677-1116 to find how to contact one of you. Each Area Agency on Aging professionals to answer questions like this. You will most likely find the people friendly and very helpful.
If you contact your local Agency on Aging and as the help they give you, let your county officials and your people in Congress know. Area Agencies on Aging do not have large budgets for advertising and certainly did not have the budgets that support campaign contributions!
Hope this helps! Best wishes!
The bad thing about Humana is that you end up with tons of pocket expenses if you become ill. I work with a company large Medicare HMO in my area, and we have tons of people who leave our plan to go to humana, then come right back because they ended up getting sick and having to pay huge deductibles and copays and things that were not even covered by Humana. Humana is not a good insurance company for seniors.
The best solution would always ask around friends or relatives who have Medicare Advantage plans and see how it worked for them. These plans have to offer the same benefits ATLEAST Medicare, but most offer more. Humana Gold Plus is a program called Silver Sneakers, which offers a free gym (usually YMCA) membership. Humana offers additional benefits that are not regular health insurance, such as your annual medical examination, and some offer more this year. I am sure that other schemes are comparable. If you live in or near a big city, you probably have a fairly well that an HMO program is excellent work, and be cheaper.
Think of it this way, the average office visit is 65 to 70 dollars. With health insurance you usually would respond to a franchise thats once met you would have to pay 20%. With an HMO plan, you pay your copay (10 or 15) and you're done) (for regular visits. Specialists, and other types of care may be more)
