Massachusetts Long Term CareOld Colony Elder Services Urges Boomers To learn more about planning for Long Term Care Now

Brockton, MA.

Former Colont services for the elderly (OCES), a non-profit Aging Services Access Point (ASAP), located in Brockton, supports the Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA) campaign "look ahead" to raise awareness about the importance of long-term care planning.

Any person between 45 and 60 who is interested in more information on retirement planning and long-term care should contact OCES at (508) 584-1561 to request a brochure.

The "look ahead" campaign targeting those born between 1946 and 1964, and encourage them to take steps now to plan their future needs. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' National Clearinghouse for the long-term care information, planning for future needs long-term care is important for several reasons:

  • Expenses - long-term care services are often much more expensive than you think. Care often exceeds what the average person can pay with their income and other resources. You can not meet the criteria for eligibility for federal assistance or state. Medicare, disability insurance and health insurance does not pay for the services of long-term care.

  • Financial and emotional stress - The financial and emotional burden of your care based solely on family members, unless you plan ahead. Remember, your assets may not be sufficient to cover the cost of your care.

  • More care options - By planning ahead, you'll have more choices about how your needs long term support will be achieved and where you wish to receive such care - for many, is the desire to stay at home as long as possible.

"When you are healthy and active, there is often no sense of urgency regarding the planning of long-term care because the potential needs seem so far in the future. But, planning is the best way to ensure that future needs are met and that you can afford to pay for these needs. Long long-term care costs are rising and the government has no funds to support them. We urge all those between 45 and 60 to contact us for more information, "said Diana DiGiorgi, Executive Director of OCES.

The best way to start planning is taking the first step for more information. Contact OCES at (508) 584-1561 to request a "look ahead" brochure will be sent free of charge. Or 800ageinfo.com or www.longtermcare.gov / campaign / MA for more information.
