Old Republic National

The editor of the Scottish Daily Telegraph, Alan Cochrane, said that when it comes to international football, many Old Firm fans do not support the Scotland national team. He said:

"Many people already distinguish between Rangers fans and fans of the Scottish national team and point to the fact that many Rangers - Celtic or for that matter - the fans do not follow the national team. Therefore, they think that the Tartan Army does not usually cause problems this is not a problem for Scotland, only to Glasgow.

I know that cos of family reasons etc. Some Celtic fans followed the Republic of Ireland international.
Who do Rangers fans follow? Many follow Scotland, but that does Cochrane speaks up? Northern Ireland?
I was intrigued by this.

Well Alan Cochrane should not really be out of "disgruntled Tunbridge Wells with a comment like that.

I'm a fan of Celtic, and support - with fervor - Scotland. I would say that individuals who bawheid (an unofficial title of Mr. Cochrane allegedly) refers, is in the light of events last week in Manchester.

That being the case, it is really old rope and the Telegraph, Scottish or otherwise, should stick to believe that the Empire still exists and the wives of the Telegraph readers still buy the Mail.

I am a Celtic supporter but I am proud to be Scots. It did not matter to me what sport it is or anything at all, if one or a team of my countrymen are in a competition so I'm support to the handle. I like being Scottish and all that goes with it.
I do like other national teams for various reasons, but with a mere passing interest and not with the passion and fervor that I have for Scotland.

I do not care about international football at all. If Scotland play I hope they win but never to jump on the train trying to get tickets for big matches namely Italy and France and to refuse any member of Tartan Army tickets as was the case this season when all the lurkers wood is gone, but where were they before that date.

I support Scotland. I could not care less for England or anyone else. It is beyond me how we can support a national team other than their own. I know why it happens, but I can not fully understand why.

Will include the Scots in the Rangers team, Oracle? Surely not, you have been wishing them nothing but bad luck for centuries.

My parents came from Ireland and I was born in Scotland. I am a Celtic fan and I support Scotland - my father supports Celtic and Republic of Ireland.

One question ....... how come at Ibrox they wave the flag and singing God Save The Queen Unoin, but when they support Scotland, Rangers fans boo when the England fans, he sings????

Support Rangers and Scotland .. I would never dream of supporting anyone else ... if Scotland are not competing, I would see the rest of the British teams do well (I must confess that I am trying hard to fight i support England)

Scotland for me. I could just follow England as my father was English, but my mother Scottish, and I was born and raised in Scotland. I guess that gave my dad my brother and dairy sopmething me about, lol!

Well, I think most of Rangers and Celtic fans support our national team. Coming from Glasgow I know most of my friends who are Rangers and Celtic Fans do not follow the national team
